Founded in 1995, Electronic Sensor Technology, LP (EST)
has developed and patented a breakthrough chemical vapor
analysis process. EST’s product line is positioned
to eliminate key vulnerabilities in the homeland security
market, namely commercial building heating, ventilating,
and air conditioning (HVAC) security, maritime port
security, airport security, and border security.
The EST Advantage
The recently elevated probability of a biological or
chemical attack on the United States has greatly increased
the need to provide fast and accurate methods of detecting
and locating potential weapons threats. In order to
address this need, EST will be focusing on four key
subsectors of the homeland security market: building
HVAC security, maritime port security, airport security,
and border security. These markets are predicted to
grow at rapid rates as a result of increasing government
and private sector concern with present security levels.
Consider the following:
- In 2005 the private sector will spend over $6.5
billion on homeland security.
- Over the next five years $3.95 billion will be spent
on the modernization of baggage and air cargo screening
in airports.
- Over the same time period, $840 million will be
spent on the deployment of new maritime container
security solutions.
Despite growth in detection devices similar to EST’s,
several issues prevent current products from being successfully
integrated into the homeland security market:
- The ability to perform real time analysis.
- The ability to produce interpretable data without
computer assistance.
- The ability to accurately detect multiple types
of chemicals and compounds.
- The ability to provide accurate detection devices
at affordable rates.
EST’s technology addresses all of these issues,
providing a comprehensive solution to several key homeland
security concerns not currently addressed by existing
products.
