NEWBURY PARK, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)—March 14, 2007 –Electronic Sensor Technology (EST), a leading provider of innovative Homeland Security and Environmental solutions, announced today that it has received an initial order of 2 zNose® units from China Ministry of Public Security through its distributor, Beijing R&D Ltd. The scientists in the Ministry of Public Security plan to utilize these units for added capability to detect drugs and explosives beside the standard Ion Mobility Spectrometer (IMS) equipment. “I am happy to announce that EST has finally broken into the Chinese security market for our zNose®. We expect to receive more orders in the coming months once the officers are familiarized with zNose®,” said Dr. Teong C. Lim, President of EST.
Also, the Tea Science Society of China has ordered a unit of zNose® to determine the contamination of tea for public health safety. Tea consumption is one of the largest commercial industries in the Peoples Republic of China and the Chinese authority is trying to set a standard for public health safety. The scientists from the Tea Science Society, through an arrangement by EST, have been trained by Prof. Dr. W. Boland, a world-renowned authority for chemical ecology, at Max Plank Institute in Germany for this application.
