Natural gas is a combustible mixture of hydrocarbon gases. While natural gas is formed primarily of methane, it often includes ethane, propane, butane, pentane and even higher molecular weight hydrocarbons. It is important to be able to quantify the composition of various compounds present in the natural gas to determine the mixture of hydrocarbons in the gas in a rapid and cost-effective manner.
